I'm piggy-backing off Bobby Scott's post from yesterday "B.Fun". If you're reading this do me a favor, grab your planner, your calendar whatever it is you keep track of your appointments on and let's review your next 1-2 weeks. If you don't have a planner, an outlook calendar or you don't use your phone for scheduling "Houston we have a problem!" Unless you have the memory of an elephant (which congrats, you are excluded from this one part of this post) it is most likely because YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING WORTH REMEMBERING. Now that's gotta hurt! Maybe it is a wake up call!
Now I'm not delusional enough to pretend I have some booked up schedule where I'm attending events every night of the week, but at least once a week I'm doing something innovative, meeting people or thought inspiring, and before you go there, if I had kids, I'd still be doing it...most of the time involving them. Whether it is writing this blog, which at least on average 50 people are reading, attending a networking event or doing something I have never done before...it's in my planner!
So...what is on your calendar? I believe I've said this before, but there is a reason the quote "Life happens when you're busy making plans" is famous. Enough with the "It's a work day" (so don't stay out late, any event worth going to during the week doesn't last all night anyways). "It's too cold out" (wear a scarf and hat and gloves) "There's snow outside" (you live in New England, get over it, or move). "There's nothing to do" (there is plenty to do, go on your town's website, find a local organization like a Junior Women's Club, look in the local newspaper for events and if you're still full of shit after that then find a charity to get involved with.)
If you're planner is blank there are plenty of things you can fill it with. If you don't have the budget to be going to events there are plenty of free things to do. There's never a specific time to call local non-profit organizations and ask how you can volunteer, you can call now. Local theaters, animal hospitals, patient care facilities, local chapters of major organizations like the Red Cross, Holy Shit! Start you're own if you can't find one...you've got to be FOR something. Cook something you've never made before that you've always wanted to, write something, try a new sport, go visit a friend, create a new family activity, just plan something.
If you don't mind spending some money to do something fun there are plenty of things going on this weekend. There are always local sporting events, as Bobby Scott mentioned earlier the Glamour Gala tonight at Onyx, both the Mohegan Sun Winefest and the CMTA Boat Show are this weekend too. Just make some plans kiddos, cause life is movin', and it waits for no one!
