Who doesn't like a good game? Some people say they hate competition, but they either suck at everything, are lazy or have just had some really bad experiences with overly competitive people. I love competition, I think it's healthy. It's what helps build our economy, it's what gives us the extra motivation to do better and in some cases it's what drives retail pricing on those lovely deals you get.
So, I'm going to not only post about it, but I'm also going to create it. I have a $25 gift card to Starbucks. Who wants it? It's easy...comment on this post below with one of these words the words "ROCK, PAPER, or SCISSORS" and tell me your favorite post on my blog and why and I'll pick a winner randomly with random.com. It's the easiest thing to do, plus i have like 10 people who read this, half will be too lazy to comment, so your chances are good !
I'm sure most people would call me competitive, and when i was younger I'm sure I was a huge brat about it. I refused to lose. I've learned now that people don't want to play if they are going to lose all the time, so although you don't have to let them win, and you certainly don't have to play like crap, you need to have Competition Etiquette. You would think that the average person would not have to be told this, but you would be surprised how many people i know that are just poor losers. It could ruin their day, night and everyone else's just because they opt in to participate and it doesn't work out in their favor.
I'm not saying no one should want to win. Shit, if there is a good prize up for grabs or even bragging rights then study, train, work longer hours do whatever you need to do, but be fair and square and happy to be given an opportunity to participate in whatever it is you're doing.
So in case you are one of those people, or may want to share this with one of those people who are more Etiquettely Challenged when it comes to competing, I invite you to review the list below, it's short, but it counts.
1) Don't cheat - it's pathetic! No one will ever want to hang out with you, do business with you, or even be your friend for that matter.
2) Talk shit, talks lots of it, that's half the fun in competition, but be prepared to laugh it off if you don't win.
3) Play hard, think hard, and make people want to beat you. It's tough being king.
4) If you lose, take the experience. You can't win at everything, and if you think you can, GET OVER YOURSELF!
5) Play to have fun, and even play to win, but don't only play if you can only win.
Game ON!
The winner was nf whom likes 10 things I can't live without and What's New. Stay tuned for more games!
My favorite blog of yours so far would have to be the top 10 ways to annoy your coworkers...and my reason is obvious...who doesn't love to annoy their coworkers?!
